So sad about Ronnie's loss he was a true fine legend and gave me and everyone I know loads of hours of fun, We owe so much to Ronnie Porridge is unique and still as funny as it was when first shown, Open all hours is great too and you can see how David Jason learnt from Ronnie, this shows in a lot David Jason has done since Open all hours, We will go on laughing for many many years and will remember his work including the Two Ronnie's forever.

omg, every time I watch an episode of porridge I end up in stitches. The pure genius and unbelievable comical understanding that the late Ronnie Barker shows is just sublime. I have taken so much pleasure from the work of Ronnie, and I only think it fair that generations to come are allowed to see the legend that once graced our lands. He may have been taken from this world, but he will continue to live in our living rooms for many many years to come. What a guy.

I heard of Ronnie Barker's death with great sadness, he was truly one of the great giants of our screen...irreplaceable. I have been a fan of Porridge/Going Straight for many years, and my one thought at this time is that I hope that (Fletch & Godber) Ronnie and the late great, Richard Beckinsale are laughing together once more - in heaven! They'll never replace him, but thanks to those wonderful shows being so available via TV/DVD, he will go on forever. Goodnight Ronnie... god bless.

Being 39 I grew up with Ronnie on my TV and loved the show Porridge probably more than any other... Ronnie was a brilliant comic actor and most definately my favourite; while others watched new comic TV shows and raved about them I would always yearn for the re-runs of Porridge and the sharp humour of Norman Stanley Fletcher. Great Britain has lost a great man, pray let heaven find this one.

I was so sad to hear of the death of one of this countries greatest comedians, Ronnie's comedy is timeless and will I'm sure be enjoyed by generations to come. My sympathy goes out to his family who i hope will find a little comfort in the knowledge that Ronnie bought laughter and joy to many, many people. This country is all the poorer for his loss, he will be greatly missed.Goodnight and God bless Ronnie.

Like the rest of the nation, we all feel as if we've lost a friend. What a marvellous fund of TV and film coverage we have of Ronnie's extra special talents as a comedy actor over the years, we all have our favourite's (mine being the 2 Ronnies as cleaning ladies using utensils as instruments!) but Porridge stands in the pathenon of the greats (with Richard Beckinsale a great loss in his prime), so many of Ronnie's roles were true to life and brought so much enjoyment, many can recite excerpts from scripts and TV shows. As a previous comment, Ronnie is sure to be making those in heaven laugh/giggle and he has left us a rich legacy of humour for future generations to study.

On behalf of my family and millions of others, 'Sir' Ronnie Barker shall be sadly missed. He was a true comic genius and his TV legacy will forever be watched over and over again by generations to come. I host a live music event in Hull, and last night over 200 people applauded the memory of Ronnie Barker. He touched many and shall never be forgotten.

I was terribly saddened to hear of Ronnie's death. He was probably the best character/comedic actor this country has ever had. The episodes of Porridge etc will be treasured even more than they were before! You don't get to see a genius very often in a lifetime and I shall forever feel myself honoured that I was alive to experience one. Don't let 'em grind you down up there Ronnie!
