He was a genius and we may not see the like of him again, in my opinion there will never been another actor that will match his diversity of performance

Whether it was Porridge or any other project Ronnie Barker was involved in, you could always get a laugh from the innuendo that never got crude, and often the word play was marvellous. Porridge especially, though the other programmes had some, showed a keen eye for observing the real dilemmas and problems we all face. A Prison? A pronounced stammer? Short sightedness? Who else would have carried these off and not been subject to a barrage of criticism? Thank you Mr. Barker, Thank you for the laughs.

Gutted by the news of Ronnie's passing. His physical appearance in Porridge bore an uncanny resemblance to my dad at around that time, especially in the "bad feet" sketch!

So..... It's good night from him. A very sad day. I will never forget the many hours I have sat glued to the box in the corner, rolling in laughter and admiration at Ronnie Barker's many guises. My favourite has to be Porridge, amazingly written and performed, Richard Beckinsale so cruelly taken from us all those years ago. Godper now has his Fletcher to talk to in heaven. Good night Ronnie and god bless - keep smiling. My thoughts to your family and close friends

The death of a comedy genius, as Ronnie Barker was & always will be is such a sad sad loss- his memory, his shows & his genius will live forever though- through Porridge, Open All Hours & The Two Ronnies. At least we have that 'little victory' now he is sadly no longer with us.

It is with a great deal of sadness I write this as the great Ronnie Barker has passed away.  There was very little love from my father as a boy and the only time we shared any real emotion was any time Ronnie was on the tv.  We both loved this comic genius and he gave us a bond which lasts to this day.  Even to this day I watch one of his shows at least once a week and have his famous "four candles" sketch on dvd which I watch each time I feel a little low (good advice to anyone suffering depression!!) you will be sadly missed but will be remembered forever by my family and will always bring a smile to my face when I think of you.  God bless.

The door on Fletch's cell has closed for the last time.  Thank goodness for VCR and DVD enabling us to watch the genius of the man for years to come.  Anyone comtemplating comedy as a career should be made to watch all of his comic creations and see how the master did it.  Thanks to you Ron for all those laughs, that is your legacy to us all.

Just to say that I'm gutted about the death of Ronnie Barker, he was a god amongst mortals.  One of the best actors, comedy or otherwise ever to appear on British TV and a tremendous comedy writer to boot.  Long may he be remembered!!!

I saw an interview with Ronnie Barker (before his appearance as Churchills Manservant) during which he revealed that he would accept a film role only on the proviso that he would co star with De Niro or Pacino.  What a terrific film that could have been.  He will be sorely missed and I lament that we so rarely saw him play serious roles.

I was sorry to hear of Ronnie's death.  My children have just started watching my Porridge DVDs with me and I think he would have laughed to hear my 6 year old say "It must have been funny, 'cause they laughed" in the scene where Gobber asks Fletch "What's a practising homosexual?" and Fletch replies "One who hasn't got it right yet."

Growing up with his comedy gave me a sense of humour from a very early age, he had a gift to appeal to all ages I know this because I laughed at his comedy when I was 8 and I still laugh now at 32 and will always laugh.  My heart goes out to his family, live in the comfort that he made millions of people laugh......
